Public Library Toolkit

This toolkit is intended to provide general information resources for use in public libraries. Please consult your health professional on specific medical questions.

About

The McGoogan Health Sciences Library has created this toolkit to support Nebraska public library staff in providing consumer health information to their community. It includes links to health information websites, health statistics,  and resources for finding health care, financial assistance, and caregiver support. The toolkit is not intended to be comprehensive, but is a starting point for research.

UNMC Health Information Service

The UNMC Health Information Service (formerly CHIRS) assists Nebraska residents or patients receiving health care in Nebraska, and their families, in finding information on health and wellness topics. Public library staff and patrons can contact us to request health information.

Service:

  • A medical librarian will prepare a packet of information and send it to you free of charge via mail or e-mail.
  • Materials may include patient-oriented articles concerning health issues, disease, or treatment; clinical trial information; professional-level journal articles or books; etc.

Requests:

-   Call us at 402-559-6221
