3D printer head printing a small black cat modelThe Linder Maker Studio has 3D printers available to use for free by UNMC faculty, staff, and students. Multiple technologies exist with unique properties that should be considered when choosing a process. The studio is located in McGoogan Health Sciences Library in Wittson Hall - Room 6006.

Library staff are not available to provide design services at this time. We recommend that you view tutorials associated with 3D print software or find highly-rated 3D models online.

3D Printing Policies

3D Printers Self-Service Use Policy

The Maker Studio 3D printers yield prototype-quality printing—ideal for creative exploration. Following a brief orientation, users can design and customize their own 3D prints and make some post-production modifications.

  1. All users are required to complete an in-person 3D printing orientation.
  2. 3D printers are intended to be used for rapid prototyping, not production. Multiple prints of identical objects may be permitted with permission.
  3. The 3D printing workstations are open unless they are actively being used to run a print job. The 3D printing workstations may be reserved in advance if required for a group, workshop, or special project.
  4. Users may only print with one printer at a time.
  5. Users must follow the 3D Printing Policy.

3D Printing Policy

  1.  The 3D printers are for non-commercial use only and may not be used to print items for resale.
  2.  3D Printers may not be used to produce anything in violation of local, state, or federal laws, or in violation of UNMC or library policies.
  3.  No firearms or other weapons (in part or in whole, including replicas), obscene, or inappropriate objects may be created using the 3D printer.
  4.  Users must comply with all applicable intellectual property rights and laws including copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code), patent law (Title 35, U.S. Code), and any contractual IP rules to which they may be subject.
  5. The library cannot guarantee model quality or stability, confidentiality of designs, or specific delivery times. We are available to consult with you about your print request to advise on potential success of a print.
  6. The McGoogan Health Sciences Library reserves the right to decline any print request for any reason.
