McGoogan Library-Licensed Resources for PDAs

The resources listed below are FREE to UNMC-affiliated individuals through our Library's site license.  MICROMEDEX Clinical Expert and Clinical Phramacology OnHand are also available to TNMC-affiliated individuals.

  • MICROMEDEX -- Clinical Expert (Drug Information, Drug Interaction Tool, Etc.  Frequently updated)
    Click on the " handheld PDA" tab and follow the instructions provided.  It may work best to create your account (the first step) while on campus.  Other steps can be done from your computer that you use to sync the handheld device. Available for use on WindowsMobile, Palm, and some BlackBerry devices - see the complete list of supported devices on this page: http://www.micromedex.com/support/certifieddevices/index.html.


  • Clinical Pharmacology OnHand  (Drug Information, Drug Interaction Tool, Etc.  Frequently updated)
    To download the hot-sync-updated version of CP OnHand, you must first e-mail or call the Library's reference desk (askus@unmc.edu, 402-559-6221, 1-866-800-5209) to request a promotional code and instructions for download. Available for Palm and PocketPC devices.


  • FIRSTConsult  (Differential Diagnoses and Disease/Therapy Information)
    In the FirstCONSULT Handheld box on the right side of the screen, click on "Download First Consult on Pocket Consult." Available for Palm, PocketPC, and WindowsMobile devices.   • DynaMed  (Best-Evidence-based, Disease/Therapy Information.  Frequently updated.)
    There are two versions of PDA-based access to Dynamed. 1) Dynamed is available in areas with wireless internet service to wireless-equipped devices. 2) There is also a version of Dynamed that can be installed on your PDA. To install Dynamed, begin by calling the Library's Reference Desk to request an "access code for the PDA version of Dynamed." After you have obtained the needed code, click on a "Dynamed" link. When you reach the Dynamed home page, click on "PDA Support." On the page that appears, follow the instructions provided. If you are using a Windows operating system on a Palm Device, install the Windows version. Available for use on iPhone, iPod Touch, BlackBerry, Palms, PocketPC, and Windows SmartPhone devices.   • eMedicine  (Disease/Therapy Information)
    Click on "PDA and Wireless" from the list on the left-hand side of the page. Follow the instructions provided on this page: http://www.imedicine.com/pda_list.asp. Available on devices through Mobipocket Reader - no specific list of supported devices is given.
