Searching the Practice Guideline Clearinghouse
*********There may not be a guideline in the Clearinghouse on your topic*********
When searching the Practice Guideline Clearinghouse, keep it simple, but use keyword search techniques, such as truncation (an asterisk after the word stem). The Clearinghouse does a fairly good job of mapping subjects, which means that if you search for bed sore, it knows you mean pressure ulcer. If you have trouble finding guidelines on your topic, try synonyms just in case.
There is a small search box on the main page, but to see everything that you type, click on Detailed Search:

From this screen, you can type in your search words in the Keyword box, or split them up in the remaining topical search boxes:

Your search results will then appear. If you don't have any results or find nothing relevant, try searching other terms. If you still cannot find any applicable guidelines, there may not be one specific to your topic.

To access the fulltext of a guideline, click the title from the results screen. What appears will be a summary. To get the full guideline, click on the Adobe PDF link to the left of the summary:
