Searching the Cochrane Library

1. Go to the library's website at http://www.unmc.edu/library and click on Cochrane which is in the Quick Links.

2. Type in the primary subject of your PICO question and click the GO button. If you retrieve too many results, add concepts, but for the first search, keep it simple and broad.

3. Cochrane consists of several databases. Right now we are looking for Cochrane Reviews. You will want to restrict your results to Reviews only by clicking on the Reviews link. If you pulled up zero Cochrane reviews, any results you have may only be journal citations. Check the library's journal collection for the item. Before you leave Cochrane, try different search terms. Remember, your topic may not have a Cochrane Review. Contact the library if you are not sure.

4. Click the Record link below the title of interest to access the full-text.
