To find a specific author's manuscripts, just add their last name and first & middle initial at the end of the search terms - example: adding griffiths wj retrieves this search result.

Correct citations for your NIH-funded manuscripts
You need to add PMCID or NIHMS ID numbers to your deposited articles' citations when referencing them in NIH applications, proposals, and progress reports. PMID and PMCID numbers are listed at the bottom of the Abstract view for PubMed citations. NIHMS ID numbers are used when the manuscript was submitted through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS) and has not been assigned a PMCID number yet. Once an PMCID number has been assigned, you no longer list the NIHMS ID. NOTE: Effective August 21, 2009, an NIHMSID may be used to indicate compliance with the Public Access Policy for up to three months after a paper is published. After that period, a PMCID must be provided in order to indicate compliance.[For more information, see Notice Number: NOT-OD-09-136, http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-09-136.html ] A document showing examples of how to cite articles is located at the bottom of this box.
How do I include the PubMed Central reference number in my citations? (FAQ C6)
List the PubMed Central reference number (PMCID) at the end of the already-required full journal citation for the paper in applications, proposals and reports.
Examples:
Cerrato, A., et al., Genetic interactions between Drosophila melanogaster menin and Jun/Fos. Dev Biol. 2006 Oct 1; 298(1): 59-70. PMCID: PMC2291284
Sala-Torra, O., et al., Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) expression and outcome in adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Blood. 2007 April 1; 109(7): 3080–3083. PMCID: PMC1852221
What do I do if the PubMed Central reference number (PMCID) has not been assigned yet? (FAQ C7)
If a manuscript was submitted through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS) and a PubMed Central reference number is not yet available, include the NIH Manuscript Submission System reference number (NIHMS ID) instead
Example, before PMCID is available:
Cerrato, A., et al., Genetic interactions between Drosophila melanogaster menin and Jun/Fos. Dev Biol. 2006 Oct 1; 298(1): 59-70. NIHMSID: NIHMS44135The same paper, once the PMCID is available:
Cerrato, A., et al., Genetic interactions between Drosophila melanogaster menin and Jun/Fos. Dev Biol. 2006 Oct 1; 298(1): 59-70. PMCID: PMC2291284
If you publish in a journal that deposits all NIH-funded final published articles in PubMed Central (PMC) without author involvement, or if you make arrangements to have a publisher deposit your final published article in PMC, (Methods A or B, respectively), a PMCID may not be assigned until several weeks after publication. During this time, please signify compliance with the policy by indicating “PMC Journal - In Process” at the end of the citation.
Example, before PMCID is available:
Sala-Torra, O., et al., Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) expression and outcome in adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Blood. 2007 April 1; 109(7): 3080–3083. PMCID: PMC Journal - In ProcessThe same paper, once the PMCID is available:
Sala-Torra, O., et al., Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) expression and outcome in adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Blood. 2007 April 1; 109(7): 3080–3083. PMCID: PMC1852221
Do I have to include a PMCID for every paper that I cite in an NIH application, proposal or progress report? (FAQ C8)
Yes, include the PMCID if the paper is:
- Authored by you or arose from your NIH funds (even if you are not an author); and
- Is covered by the Public Access Policy
Ho do I get the PMC reference number (PMCID) so I can cite it on my application, proposal or report? (FAQ C9)
The PMCID is listed in the lower right corner of the AbstractPlus view of PubMed (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/). It will be posted as soon as an article has been successfully submitted to PMC. If the paper is not yet publicly available on PMC, the abstract view will also list the date the article will become available.
