Getting Permission
How do I obtain permission?
If you need to gather permission to use copyrighted material you may contact Marie Reidelbach, McGoogan Library of Medicine 559-7087 or email mreidelb@unmc.edu for assistance. The Library works closely with the Copyright Clearance Center to obtain permission to reproduce copyrighted content such as journal articles and book chapters, create coursepacks, place items on library reserves, electronic reserves, within your Blackboard courses, and more. Click on Copyright Clearance Center for more information about their services.
If you choose to seek permission on your own, the University of Texas website provides valuable information about how to obtain permission to use a particular work. It also includes a Sample Letter Requesting Permission, and information on what to do if you cannot find the owner for permission.
